The Jain Group of Institutions (JGI) is a group committed to human development at all levels through education and entrepreneurship, to build sustainable communities. The group has established educational institutions from pre-school stage to master’s degrees in various fields since 1991, and represents a cluster of 59 educational establishments that are home to 30,000 students from across the world and over 3120 staff members. The Jain University, a member of the JGI Group, is declared deemed to be university under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956.

Radio Active CR 90.4 MHz

Radio Active CR 90.4 MHz was launched on 25th June 2007, by Jain Group of Institutions, as part of its social outreach program.

Radio Active is an urban community radio catering to heterogeneous and diverse groups, where people from different communities are encouraged to make use of the station for their development.

The radio station located in central Bangalore caters to different groups by interest like the LGBT community, disabled groups, people living with HIV/AIDS, auto-drivers, senior citizens, environmentalists etc and by geographical locations located within the coverage area. Radio Active is a medium for different community groups to converge and discuss issues of relevance, to find solutions, to look at empowerment, to encourage participation. Radio Active respects diversity and promotes inclusion.

The community radio station, Radio Active seeks to reach out to Bangalore’s masses on issues concerning health, environment, development, scientific awareness, women & children, civic & social issues etc, in turn seeking to enlighten, equip, educate, engage, encourage, empower, while entertaining the public.

Radio Active has launched a number of community based projects for the welfare and development of the community. The projects ensure that Radio Active is self-sustaining. Radio Active has been vigorously involved in different outreach activities like Eye Camps, Awareness Drives, Film Festivals, Quiz Competitions, Street plays thereby using convergent media for effective reach.

Radio Active follows a partnership approach and hence is able to network very well with different groups like the Government, NGOs, and Institutions, Social workers and students, thereby ensuring participation.
